Out on the ministry edge...now what?

We're all called to some kind of ministry.  You could be a singer, a writer, an actor, a painter, speaker, and the list goes on.  One thing is certain.  Whatever you're called to do, you will have challenges.  Just because you're gifted doesn't mean it will come easy for you.

We love being comfortable.  We love it when things are working.  We love predictability.  We don't really want to work any harder then we have to so we can achieve the desired result.  We don't like being lost and we don't like asking for directions!  Left to ourselves we can be lazy shallow and irresponsible.  I'm not just talking to 'you'. I'm talking to everyone who will listen including myself.

So do you avoid or embrace?  Here are a few points to ponder and then you tell me.
You might be avoiding discomfort if:
1:  You convince yourself there is an easier and quicker route.
2:  You find yourself in a hurry to move on.
3:  You try to pass your problem along to someone else.
4:  You reason that someone else is to blame.
5:  You find yourself distracted doing everything you can to avoid the discomfort.

So how did you do?  Honestly, most of us humans tend to rush as quickly as we can back toward being comfortable.  It's just a better feeling.  So have you ever considered what might happen if you willingly made a choice to embrace the difficult thing in front of you?  If you're in ministry, you are going to need to grow.  And growth is uncomfortable.

I know you want it now.  I know you think it should be easy.  But you know what?  You are doing Kingdom work so you are going to be met with resistance.  Face it and embrace it!  It won't be an easy route but it will be fulfilling and full of opportunities to see your faith grow and the lives of people changed.  When you're at the precipice of your windy road He's there!  Now that's security.  Something to think about...Tami
