I've worked with so many artists
over the years and I've learned one or two things. The enemy is going to
plant a voice of doubt inside you almost every time you try to do something
with your gift to impact the Kingdom. Here are a few lies he will try to
get you to buy into:
1: Your talent isn't good
enough
2: You're not worthy
3: Your motives are wrong
4: Nobody will listen to you
5: You've made too many
mistakes
6: You don't have enough time
7: You don't have enough
money
8: YOU are just not good enough
Do any of these sound
familiar? If you've tried to do anything with your talent you've been
harassed by one or more of these points. So why do we listen? Are
these words the Lord would speak over someone He created to bring glory to
Himself? It's rhetorical but let me answer so you know for sure, NO!
There is one response you can use with each of these lies. Shut-up.
Yup, you heard me right. Tell yourself to shut-up. Quit buying into
the lie. Quit cursing yourself with lie. Just quit...enough is
enough!
The enemy wants you to focus on
whatever talent you have. Then he wants you to compare it to
others. This slippery slope leads to nowhere good. Here is the
truth. Don't focus on the talent. Focus on YOU. He didn't
create a talent void of you. He created you with a purpose and destined
you for victory. You are a child of God. You have been gifted
uniquely to touch the world for Jesus. Do I sound like I'm
preachin'? Well maybe so. I'm known all over for kinda being a
preacher and I'm okay with that. It's such a simple message but we don't
get it.
We'd rather cower to doubt and
perceived circumstances. We need to understand our position in Christ so
when those darts begin to fly we know how to respond. It's a spiritual
battle when your a kid of the most high but we can't act like little
kids. We've got to 'man up', arm ourselves with the word, surround
ourselves with people who will support us and then go. Pursue the call on
your life. Go. Have courage to let Him lead. Go. Have
trust to know He's gone before you and will never leave you or forsake you.
Just GO!
So if you're feeling down, feeling
doubtful, feeling frightened, feeling ashamed, it's okay. But don't stay
there. Take courage and know He has a great plan for you. Something
to think about...Tami
"...For I know the plans I
have for you," declares the Lord,
"Plans to prosper you and not
to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future..."
